Hello! Thank you for officially registering your city to host a
Twestival Local. You may be taking on this challenge again, or stepping up to organize
an event for the first time. Whatever your motivation - this is going
to be an exciting opportunity to connect with others in your city,
around the world, while fundraising for a fantastic cause. We are in the midst of updating the website and rebranding it with the
new ‘Twestival Local’ logo for a fresh appearance. The website will
have more resources, but ultimately it will remain a simple portal for
people to find their city. Those of you who already have
city.twestival.com blogs and Twitter accounts, please feel free to
start engaging your local community. We will be sending instructions
shortly for those new cities which need to set one up (we use
WordPress).Twestival Local is slightly different from Twestival Global because
each city will be given the opportunity to select which charity their
local community will support on September 12th. We will be hosting
another Twestival Global on February 4th where everyone around the
world will rally around the same cause - this will be decided in
October. In the meantime, think about what local charity your team
wants to support. I have set up a group of volunteers who will vet
your choice to ensure the following:- it is a registered and established charity in your respective Country
- it has been decided upon and accepted by the local city team and/or community
- a connection has been made between the Twestival organizer and the
charity to ensure they are aware of TwestivalI am sure there won’t be an issue with any of your selections, but
this process is put in place to protect the Twestival brand from being
abused. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Also, if
you are looking for a way to let your local city decide and suggest
which charity should be supported, consider using a service like
www.uservoice.com where people can recommend and vote.In the first 48 hours, we have already had close to 100 cities signed
up, and the word is just getting out…This weekend, I will be connecting you with others who have reached
out via the website to volunteer. I hope you will welcome them and
actively seek out other volunteers/sponsors in your to your local
Twitter community. You have received this email because you are my
main point of contact - please let me know if this changes.Once again, we will establish Google Groups, teams of global
volunteers to support you with PR, event management and also link you
to special partnerships that have been set up for Twestival. These
events may have a local focus at heart, but there is an international
Twitter community that is ready and willing to support your efforts.Tweet. Meet. Give.
